Amarita's juweeltjes
Starting from today, my new website Amarita's juweeltjes has been placed online. Under the alias Amarita's juweeltjes, I create handmade must-haves from wood, recycled pieces of cloth, silver-thread and remnants of yarn, spruced up with a little pearl here and a trinket there. Are you looking to smarten yourself up, then look through my romantic jewels, fairy-like brooches, earrings and rings. Every piece is unique, just like you.
Een fijn plekje in de hemel
It has taken a while, but my newest children's book has been published. This time, the author is Brigitte Minne. "Een fijn plekje in de hemel" is about Wolf, a little boy that's very fond of his grandmother. He wants her to be comfortable, always. Later, in heaven as well. Mom told Wolf all the dead people and animals go to heaven. Will heaven be too crowdy for grandmother? Will she like it there?

Not so long ago, I was told "Een plek naast de sla" will be published in South-Korea... And now my publisher has contacted me to tell me it will also be publiched in Denmark!

South-Korean publishing company Hansol Education will launch a whole series of 'Learn to Read'-books from De Eenhoorn. "Een plek naast de sla", written by Aag Vernelen and illustrated by me, is also one of the books that will be published in South-Korea!
Kinderjury 2010
Drako Dragonder ended up as the second best reading book according to the Children's Jury 2010 of Amstelveen (NL).
Books, awards and Vreemde Vogels
A lot has happened since my last message. The last of the fairy tales, Cinderella, was published but sadly enough, the printed colours are all messed up :(. A new 'first readers' book, named "Een plek naast de sla", written by Aag Vernelen, has been published as well. This time, the publishing company is De Eenhoorn. Two more first readers books have been published by De Vries-Brouwers. I also won the second place in the People's Choice Award of the prestigious illustrators festival Picturale 2010 in Ronse. Finally, I joined up forces with some fellow illustrators and I am now participating in the Vreemde Vogels-project in Meeuwen-Gruitrode (Belgium). Last but not least, I made tons of illustrations for some educational books, which will be published by Dutch publishing company Noordhoff Uitgevers.
I can hear you thinking: 'I suppose she's going to take it easy for a while now...'. No! I'm working on a new children's book! My publisher (De Eenhoorn) presented me a very imaginative story by a talented Flemish writer, Brigitte Minne :)
Cinderella
Cinderella, my last fairy tale, will appear in the first quarter of 2010. This book concludes a series of 7 fairy tales, which I have illustrated with lots of love and patience. Illustrations will follow...
Drako Dragonder
Today, I received some author copies from the reading book "Drako Dragonder". I was really impressed by the fine quality of the print! Soon to be found in bookstores and in the library...
Cinderella
I'm working on the last fairy tale of the series, namely Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty will be appearing in bookstores somewhere in August!
Show-box
The pupils of the 4th grade A at the Lyceum of Hasselt have created a show-box based on The Little Matchstick Girl. I've went to the library of Hasselt to admire it and it was beautiful :) .
